black dog

I am always with you though often you choose not to see me.
Some days I hide in shadows but I’m always close.
Did you know that black dogs are the least adopted from shelters?
They say it’s because our features are not as prevalent…My belief? – That ancient memory inside the human brain knows me well.
I wish you no harm, it’s the human way to harm oneself ..not mine. I will be here..always to guide you when the time comes.

I smile as the black dog walks alongside me through the park.
It was a beautiful day.

I luckily stumbled on to THIS blog which offers a 100 word challenge for grown ups…I’m not sure if I’ve grown up but I’m not a teenager and the prompt was irresistable.

Here’s what Julia (the sites owner) offered….

I’m late in posting this week’s challenge but I’m going to use something in the news this morning. I’m sure you will all have heard of Robin Williams and maybe watched some of his films. For me, he was a talented actor who occasionally couldn’t change the persona he had created early in his career. His suicide is very sad but understandable I think as there was often a manic side to his performances.

The prompt for this week is:

…the black dog walks alongside me…

The old man sat alone on a park bench.
Eye’s reflecting the galaxies most brilliant star.
Four days passed,
..or four-hundred.

She couldn’t remember.
Recalling nothing but walking past him for…
an eternity.
Silently noticing him daily.
Never noting, his smile widening, brightening, as she neared.

As a statue holding the same posture.

Glowing… as if he knew the answer to all questions posed throughout time.

She journeyed towards …the place.
Was she Delusional or was he?

Planning words never to be spoken.
“Sophia” ?

The old man lit up brighter than ever.

They burst into light disappearing forever.

Here’s the low down for this weeks Trifextra:

“This weekend we’re asking for 30 of your own words plus the three following words for a total of 33 words.

Tether Loft Crown”
Here’s my bit titled:

Eyes closed.

“They know not”…

Releasing tether tied to loft..

Flailing, body smashed into  wall..

going limp..

silver crown of his molar

majestically lying on the rug..

holding  secrets eternal.

It’s the weekend which means it’s Trifextra time. Time for 33 words. This week celebrating Time itself. I’m including Trifectas complete statement/challenge here, not only to give credit to Eirik Solheim, but to remind myself, and you, that there is beauty peeking through this often shattered world….take a moment to enjoy the short video hopefully sharing in the gratitude and affinity I feel towards nature.

“We’ve noticed an ongoing trend of darkness and creepy posts popping up in Trifecta’s links.  As you well know if you’ve been around for any length of time here, we love creepy.  In fact, last year we dedicated much of October to spooky prompts and responses.  Someone even publicly commented on the fact that we spent a full month on Halloween while hardly giving the other holidays a nod.  It was an unintentional move that probably speaks to the kind of challenge we are. But in an effort to try to steer you guys back into the light and save the darkness for another month, we’re switching gears a bit this weekend.  This weekend’s prompt is to write 33 words exactly inspired by the following photo project by Eirik Solheim.  Each slice of the photo compilation is a different day of the year, taken from the same location. Here’s the still shot: ”

….AND to show how one inspiration spurs another here is “How It Ends” by DEVOTCHKA {my personal favorite version} , showing even if the ending is known that it’s worth enjoying the ride…

Here are my 33, titled:

Beginning together, microscopic molecules.

Chasing, bonding, forming a connection, multiplying eternally.

Forming a vast network.

Invisible heart-strings pulling, spiraling.

Made of the same matter.

All different.

All destined.

Meeting again, in the End.

This weeks Trifextra (<-click to join the fun) challenges gives us visual inspiration and goes a little something like this:

“This weekend we’re asking for 33 of your own words inspired by the following photo”.

Here’s my 33, hope you enjoy the trinity tale:

No Pain.

Look down, count  eyelets of shoes.

Happiness ripped from  chest, lay bleeding on  lovers.

An empty shell shadow soul.

“Do you have the time”?

Beauty exchanged baggage.

Look up more.

An attempt to look through your eyes.

This was not a planned post.

Watching you..who gave me such hope, walk away…run away…the saddest view of my life.

Trying to understand. .I attempt to look through your beautiful grey eyes. My friend, you far above my life, will be the greatest loss. Te amo.

Reading articles. .looking from my doctors, my friends, humanities eyes.
The hardest part not death…but my isolation and the weight it lays on others.
Looking at this article through the kind eyes of my gentle doctor of over twenty years…compassionately trying to understand. ..

Staring into the sun: 100 Word Song :People Have The Power

Lance and 100 word song challenge

I was struck by a quote(” All my desires abolished by the plenitude of their satisfaction”-Roland Barthes) and a friend, and Jason Silva on Love Loss

which inspired the following:

Staring into the sun

My eyes opened in your presence,

For we are both lion and lamb

One condemned to leave this earth

One to stay,

All I can do now

All that’s left of the earthly me

Is show you the way.

My mistaken paths

Things  found good and pure

In life and death

these, I leave for you.

Climb where I have fallen

live where I have died

turn your eyes from sadness

turn sadness into what is  divine.

All I’ve left my friend,

the power I have given to you,

My life, my death, leaves you in

Discomfort- dp

discomfort-dp Once I was in People magazine…they twisted and misquoted – discomfort I’ll do the writing or at least the editing. Unphotogenic- discomfort rarely am I photogenic I’ll take the pictures or approve the shots of myself. I am dying-discomfort It’s happening quickly and can not be stopped. I’ll do the dying ….It’s part of life. bloodIMG_20110624_202012-1into my heart

Trifextra #75 join in

This weeks Trifextra  goes a little something like…

Last weekend we gave you a super prescriptive prompt.  We also promised you we’d ease up this week.  As such, this weekend we are asking for a thirty-three word free-write.  Any topic, any style–just give us your best thirty three.

Here’s my addition sparked by Independence day, friendship and loyalty.

Heavy hearts pulled

by the broken dreams of worldly cruelty

walking out

minds focused

eyes clear

hands on shoulders

taking life on the chin

bound by loyalty

they would only go down
